You may’ve heard about a house explosion in a small upstate NY town this morning. If not, you can do a quick read here: http://www.buffalonews.com/city/communities/niagara-county/article962618.ece
I grew up in Wilson - the small town in which this happened - about a mile or so from this house. My parents still live in there and I visit frequently. In a rural area, people who live a mile away are neighbors. Although I don’t know these people personally, I am compelled to help. I am still very much connected to my hometown, and these people are a part of it. My mom works at the high school the children attend, and (I think) my brother worked with one of the older siblings.
I’m passing on this link in case any of you have the means to make a small donation to help get this family back on track. It may help provide a meal, clothes, shoes or shelter. They lost a young member of their family, and reports indicate that some family members are seriously burned or injured. There will a tremendously long physical and emotional healing period for this family. If you can help in any way, please do.
Thanks.
EDIT: It appears there is not yet a link to donate through the magic of the interweb. Donations are being accepted in the form of a check. If you still have one of those, please send one. Otherwise, I will let you know if/when I find an online means to help.
Another EDIT: Here’s more info on how to help: http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/175731/37/Wilson-House-Explosion-How-to-Help
Again, no online donation link yet.
You can now donate online through paypal at this link: http://wilsonfbc.org/johnsonfamily.php
